[resolved] Piwigo 16 - Endless "Whats new" Window in Admin-Panel
Pretty bizarre: I`m running two Web-based Piwigo-Installations. Upgrade to 16.0 went flawless on the main Installation.
But when i upgrade the secondary Installation, any time, i click on whatever in the Admin-Panel, the "Whats new" Window apperas. No matter what i do and what i click.
Both Installations are pretty much identical. The secondary is almost a clone of the primary one, just with fewer PlugIns installed.
I tried the procedure twice and restored Database and Webspace between attempts. Same results.
It is also imossible to re-activate any Plug-in. When switching the butto an error is indicated. The Switch changes, but without any Effect. The Plugin stay disabled.
Upgrade: Tried a third Time, same result.
PHP: 8.4.14
MySQL: 10.11.14-MariaDB-0+deb12u2
External ImageMagick 6.9.11-60

Hi Leopold,
Which plugins are you trying to reactivate that won't ?
The popin should close and not reopen when clicking on the cross. It is strange it reappears.
To hide the popin we use the "user preferences" are there any other things that use the user preference that aren't working properly, like the light dark mode in the admin ? or hiding the mobile application banner ?

same issue here: on the same server, 2 piwigo installations, only one with the pop up "What's new in version xx" which keeps popping no matter what (since its creation in preior versions, I was hoping for the enw 16 to clean that but no)

exactly. espacilly as it works on my primary installation. no matter if i use the cross to close the window, click on close or visit the links. the next time, i click on anything inside the admin-area, the popin reopens

i`d say no, but i`ll doublecheck. if there is anything to it, the primary installtion should be affected, too, as the secondary one is a clone of the primary one
the only difference between both installations is: the primary one is installed the root-level of its domain and the secondary one is running in a subfolder.
i doublecked it three times by using backups of database and webspace. it happens each and every time.

I just gave it a fourth try. This time i disabled all plug-ins and went from bootstrap to modus . i also switched to light theme in admin-panel and deinstalled not activated plugins.
update went through, no warnings, no errors.
result: same as before. the window appears each and any time i click on something inside the admin panel and can not make any changes to any plugins. under /tools/maintenance i also get an error-message for plugins.
primary installation works, secondary not. same server, same configuration, server, plugins, php, sql...
it would make far for sense, if the primary one is the troublemaker, as it is running much more stuff und has a lot of customations. the secondary one is way more simple. the primary one contais all plugins, settings and modifications of the secondary one. so, if there would be any issue with it, the primary one would be affected, too.
pretty strange

updated both installations to 16.1.
primary installation still working
secondary installation is working again. reported problems are solved. i can enable/disable any plugin i want and the "whats new" window is not coming back.
