If I uploaded from Shotwell, there are no GPS coordinates in the images. With exiftool I can see they are present in the source files and missing once uploaded to the server.
Yes, Shotwell has the "Remove location ..." option when uploading. This defaults to off and doesn't make any difference if it's enabled or not.
Using Digikam to upload, the GPS coordinates are there as expected.
This may sound like a Shotwell issue, but I have not updated Shotwell since August 2025 and this issue just started with the first set of pictures I uploaded since upgrading to Piwigo 16.2.0, so I thought I would post here first.

I have been round and round with this, but beginning to suspect user error. Or, at least, Digikam remove the geo tags from some pictures after I had looked at it with exiftool, but before I tested the upload of said pictures many times with Shotwell.
In case you're wondering why I am using Digikam and Shotwell?
Digikam for geo-tagging images from GPX tracks, Shotwell to caption and tag images. I would drop Shotwell if captioning wasn't so cumbersome in Digikam.
