Shutter photo gallery software, web based upload, dynamic sorting
Hi Piwigo Community,
I've found an interesting photo gallery project called "Shutter". It is very new but the video has quite impressed me: http://shutter.tenfourzero.net/video.html
What I like is the web base uploader and the drag&drop to sort photos inside an album.
What's your opinion?

I'm very impressed by their uploader !
I think that Pwg should have had a such uploader for a long time. Ploader is a complement but implies a download.
This uploader is easy to use, can be use in public areas but may be incompatible or very slow with some host.

I think it is a flash uploader and I believe wordpress uses an equivalent one that allows you to follow a progress bar and not to block the current page ...
Flickr also uses a flash uploader

Flickr also uses a flash uploader
probably.
the gallery is compatible with HTML 4 browsers, and with HTML you can't select multiple file and upload them with progress bar (even if you use AJAX methods, you don't have a such functionalities)
only a Flash applet (and perhaps JAVA, but I'm not aware about JAVA) have this possibilities..

a web based upload would be so great! especially if when you managed categories there was an 'upload' button for each one just as there is to edit the category information. this enables a user to browse and upload at the same time.

You missed nothing. What is the difference between an album and a category ? How can we sort all photos in an album ?

"album" is the new name for category for all piwigo.com website.
album = category
(plg is familiar with this new term now).
plg is thinking to rank management which is needing a drag&drop system.
