Piwigo in Russia

Hi Pierrick, yesterday registered a domain piwigo.ru and placed on hosting the first article, taken from here, respectively, in Russian. Plan to join a community site for all fans Piwigo, speaking in Russian. And can you have suggestions, text, files, and other things that need to be placed on my site?
Also invite the Russian-speaking users piwigo - to jointly develop piwigo.ru

Re: Piwigo in Russia

Hi kiddy-admin,

Nice to read this (maybe asking for permission to use "Piwigo" in your domain name would have been cool, but I don't think you're gonna use it against the project :-)

I see that you have already translated:

* Basics
* Basics > Features
* Basics > Requirements
* Contribute

That's really good :-)

Don't you want that we create ru.piwigo.org? I'm 100% OK for this. Recently we have added cn.piwigo.org (china). I mean:

* CMS (we use Drupal)
* Forum
* extensions

...and maybe also wiki + demo if you want.

Tell me if you're interested :-)

Re: Piwigo in Russia

Oh yes, I forgot: we could also have newsletter subscription in Russian (that's a bunch of files to translate for the subscription script)

In fact, I don't propose you to manage a Drupal, a forum and so on. I propose that I partly duplicate the english website, then you can translate the content of pages into russian. I know Drupal is far more complex than Wordpress, but on ru.piwigo.org you would only have to click on the "edit" link of each page and translate it into russian (and sometimes create a new page, copied from the central website in english).

This is what we have for :

* China : http://cn.piwigo.org
* Germany : http://de.piwigo.org
* France : http://fr.piwigo.org
* Poland : http://pl.piwigo.org
* Spain : http://es.piwigo.org
* Italia : http://it.piwigo.org

The advantage for you : you don't have to perform the low level administration tasks, we (system admins) care about it.
The advantage for russian users : they feel that they are on Piwigo website (just because they ARE on Piwigo official website)

45 days ago, we had the same discussion for cn.piwigo.org, read [Forum, topic 15612] Piwigo爱好者论坛

I don't force you with this solution, I simply "propose" it because I think it is less work for you (that to maintain a specific website) and that russian users will prefer to switch from forum to extensions on the same website, in russian (YES, we can also give you translation rights in the extension manager so that you can translate the extension descriptions in Russian :-)

I agree, english is fine for international communication, but users appreciate to read in their own language.

Nadusha has made the Russian translation if my notes are correct. I send you his/her email address in private.

Would you like an SVN account to be able to modify/complete translations directly in the source code repository?

Re: Piwigo in Russia

I have created http://ru.piwigo.org

kiddy-admin, I've created your Drupal account. Once connected (use the URL I gave you by private email), go to http://ru.piwigo.org/downloads for example, click on the "edit" link and you can translate the page :-)

There are many other steps in the translation:

* translate the extension manager interface
* translate the newsletter subscription script
* translate the specific strings for ru.piwigo.org/forum if we want a russian forum
* translate the extension manager content (extension descriptions)
* translate the extension themselves (for example translate [extension by plg] Upload Form)

Just tell me what you want to do, I'll give you the instructions :-)

Re: Piwigo in Russia

OK, I logged on ru.piwigo.org - and understand how I can do localization. I'll start off small - will set the correct beautiful Russian those articles that are already there

I worked for a time with several clients CVS, in particular, TortoiseCVS, if necessary, I think understand what's what and in SVN.
