Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

Is it possible to make the the comment field "searchable" ?
I have a library of 5000 images, and it is quickly growing. we are 6 people who use the library of our local server.
It would be great if we could be able to create a comment, and later use it in the same way as we would a tag.

"This picture is used as the magazine cover of april issue,"

for example would be a standard comment. The possibillity to search using the quick search or normal search would be
then, extremely valuable.

Im no php-guy, and know no code. (so if i have to code something, explain in detail please)

Re: Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

Do you mean:
- comment(s), that are usually left by visitors
- or description (one per picture), that is written by the webmaster

Re: Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

I just checked on my test gallery: descriptions are searchable.

Re: Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

Then I suppose my question should be rephrased to: How can I let normal users create a description?
(But made just as easy as making a comment.)

Actually the comment system would still be best I think, ( comment that of a regular user or visitor.) if I can make that searchable.

Re: Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

A picture has only one description, that is written by webmaster(s) or adminstrator(s), and is normally searchable.

Comments might be written by any visitor or registered users only (see gallery settings), their number is not limitated, but they are not searchable ... in standard mode.

I guess a plugin might make the comments searchable, but I, for myself, don't know how to do it.

Yes, often webmasters forget these filtering options, I know.

Re: Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

Thank you!

I had hidden this menu from sight when I installed Piwigo.
Ofcourse I had forgotten about it. Now I feel really silly.
But is it not just as simple, or even simpler when
the quick-search field can be used to search through comments also/instead?

Then one would not need to have an extra menu for it.
Just a thought.

Thanks again.

Re: Can I make pictures comment-field searchable.

Even if this search is there, you're right.

Searches should have to go throught validated comments.
Or this point should be included in the gallery configuration parameters.

Could you add a new feature request in our bugtracker? ( http://piwigo.org/bugs/ )
