I don't know exactly where you're stuck ... but you should be aware that a category must not be empty to be visible for visitors; you need to put at least one picture in it.
[Bugtracker] ticket 1492 will be fixed in a future version.

Hi goga,

Do you want totally external users to upload photos OR family/friends to upload photos?

If you only want to open upload to family/friends then you don't need a moderatoin system, and pLoader + [extension by plg] Community will be fine :-)

Re: [resolved] How to create uploadable category?

Did you set up the general options (Cf.screencopy): Configuration -> Options, then Upload tab
and the category properties: Category -> Properties, then Upload tab.

Re: [resolved] How to create uploadable category?

Look at the public/private tag: is the category set up as public?

Another idea: how did you create this category? is it a virtual or a physical one?
It should be a physical category (created with FTP) to be used as an uploadable category.

Re: [resolved] How to create uploadable category?

Your "Forest & Flowers" category is a virtual category, not a physical one; thus, it cannot be set as uploadable.

Use FTP (Filezilla, for example) to create a sub-folder in the /gallery folder. This will be a physical category that will appear in the Upload tab, and you will be able to set it up as Authorized.

All your categories, including the new "Art", are virtual categories. I can tell it from the righmost icon, a white 'X' in a red circle; this icon doesn't appear for physical categories, as you cannot delete them from the administration panel.

How did you create the "Art" category?
You should have used FTP, gone to the /galleries folder, and use the create directory function (or similar) of your FTP client program to create a new folder in /galleries. Only after you've done that, the new physical category will be available in the administration panel, and you will be able to set it up for uploading.

If you don't succeed, you can send them by MP; but I'd rather you create the category by yourself.

Re: [resolved] How to create uploadable category?

Well ... I guess I forgot to say this: each time you do something on the gallery using FTP, you need to synchronize (Tools -> Synchronize) so Piwigo will "learn" what elements have been added/updated/removed (see screencopy). You need to uncheck "only perform a simulation" so the modifications are actually registered.

I performed the synchronization, so your 3 physical categories are now available from the administration panels. You need to upload pictures in them (and do the synchronization again) so they will be visible to the visitors.

Spaces and exotic characters are not allowed in physical categories names, thus I have renamed your "Forest & Flowers" category. Of course, you can give it another name ;-)
