Hi,
I am a newbie here.
I am looking to see if when someone adds a comment to your photo, does an email notification be sent to the author of the photo? I am looking for this feature as I have started a camera club with 33 members and we need a photo program for our club website that enables us to have email notifications upon people adding comments. This will take place of a forum. We are trying to use software that everyone can understand and it appears that this would be great software, and useful to us if we have this feature. Thanks in advance for your help!
Jim
also can anyone subscribe to a comment on a photo?

We don't have the email notification subscription at photo level. It could be a nice plugin to code :-) It can be kept quite simple if the notification subscription is either at gallery level or at photo level (and much more complex at category level).
Regarding notification, we have the notification feed. It is global to the gallery.

Thanks for your anwer.
Using the RSS feed, does this send an email to anyone, or is there any method that emails a notification when new photos are commented on?
Guess I am a bit confused...are there any mods that might handle that feature?
Thanks,
Jim

No, the RSS feed is "another way to get notified", it does not send any email.

Not yet. Do you think you can create a feature request in the bugtracker? (you can say no, and I'll create the feature request myself, just tell me)

You have to register on the bugtracker (which doesn't share accounts with the forum, unfortunately) and "Monitor Issue".

I've discovered Jeffrey Friedl's blog (nice photos, nice descriptions, It makes me think of rvelices blog) recently, and I think he has a nice notification subscription form:
You can get notified by a checkbox if you leave a comment (and you email address), and you can also subscribe by giving your email address and no comment.
The difference we have with Piwigo is that users can be "registered", so we avoid to ask their name and email address (warning: by default, email address is not mandatory).

Hi,
it's quite an old topic, but I didn't find anything newer in the search. So, has this feature been implemented? How can users subscribe to comments' answers via email on a picture/galery level? (the same as I can do below in this reply form :) )
Thank you.

sorry Skywalker [Bugtracker] ticket 906 is still currently in an "open" state.

Yeah, I found this link yesterday. It is set to be implemented in version 2.2 - when is the approximate date of this release? I'm thinking about hardcoding a list of recipients in a code file and sending emails to all of them, but if the release is not far away I will probably wait.

Currently, Piwigo 2.2 is expected for fall 2010, see [Forum, topic 16285] Piwigo 2.2 planning (but if you read with attention, it doesn't mean that all what is currently expected for Piwigo 2.2 will be in Piwigo 2.2 in the end)

Hi there,
is this feature going to be implemented? I can see that it was planned in year 2008 and three years later still nothing... Should I wait for this feature or better to look for another cms?
John
Well, sorry for this long delay. Yes, this feature is going to be implemented. I just can't swear when it will be implemented.
In Piwigo 2.3, I want to partly redesign the mail notification system and it should be easier to add notifications.
