uploading thousands of photos

HI,

I need to upload around 10000 images to a single album. What is the easiest way to do this.

I would like to ftp the photos to a folder within the gallery folder, and the follow the instructions provide for creating a gallery using ftp. I have tried this but get errors having to due with the filenames of some of the images.

Please note that I have also tried uploading approximately 500 images using the upload photos option in the admin panel , and do not get any filename errors.

Please note that I used the same images for both tests.

Any suggestions?

Lloyd

Re: uploading thousands of photos

Hello
it's normal : the upload via web change the name of the files.
That an old limitation for Synchronization... we may work on it for future releases

Re: uploading thousands of photos

Renaming would be a lot of work, considering I have over 10,000 images to upload.

What would be involved to modify the thumbnail generator and sync script to work will my existing filenames.

not a lot
I have also thousands of pictures and I use the ftp method usually : just use a batch rename/manager... I use an old one, Siren.exe, but there is a ton of software on every OS
Using the ftp needs preparation : thumbnails, name of files etc We will work on it, in order to be more user friendly

Re: uploading thousands of photos

currently not (we don't work exactly like that) but that feature is registered in the bugtracker
