[resolved] Bulk adding images through FTP

Hi Piwigo,

I've recently adopted Piwigo as my gallery, and I'm very pleased with Piwigo in general.  However, I am having difficulty generating thumbnails -- please advise:

1.  I batch upload files using FTP FileZilla, usually a couple thousand pics at one time.

2.  To create thumbnails, I log-in as the administrator, then go to Tools > Thumbnails.

3.  Theer are options to create 5, 10, 20, or all thumbnails.  I choose "all" because with 4,600 pictures, I don't have the luxury of time to create 5 thumbnails at a time ><

4.  Piwigo starts running, then I get a "500 Internal Server Error" with the message "The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request ..."

5.  I go back to the thumbnail page, and it shows (for example) only 4,100 pictures needed thumbnails.  So I know Piwigo created the thumbnails, but I "crashing" Piwigo in order to generate enough thumbnails in a time-efficient manner ...

Please advise, I would prefer a solution where I don't get an 'internal server error' every time I make my thumbnails ><

Thanks,
Joel

Hi Joel,

I am trying to use the batch manager, I have a question for you. In which folder to you upload the bulk images? in order to use this feature. Thanks, Chuck

Hi denver,

I'm no longer using Piwigo.  I found Coppermine Photo Gallery to be more stable and more widely used.  But I'm sure some of the friendly folks on the forum could help you out :)

well... if "more stable" means "with less evolution than Piwigo", yes I agree ;-) Anyway, what's important is that everyone finds the solution that fits his needs :-)

denverc63, we'll answer in your other topic [Forum, topic 18396] How to use Batch Manager
