Piwigo 2.4 and default admin theme

Hi Piwigo Team and users,

On Piwigo 2.4, I've made several visual changes on the "clear" theme in admin. Now it is graphically compliant with the install screen, the "no photo yet" screen and with piwigo.org also (white, dark grey, orange). I would like to switch this theme as default admin theme (of course we keep the "roma" theme, the dark one) available with a simple click in administration panel.

I keep thinking the black background admin panel is hard to read. When I make a demo, especially on a video projector, the black background is a "no go".

Considering that Sylvia is no more the default gallery theme, in my opinion it is no longer relevant to keep roma as default admin theme.

As a reminder, here is roma:

and here comes clear

clear as the default theme...yes why not. I don't like its color set, but we might change this later.
For my personal use I will stay with roma, but I understand the troubles it can cause.

Re: Piwigo 2.4 and default admin theme

My personal preference always goes to Roma theme. It shows a better contrast for me. If admins ever get the possibility to fix the default admin theme they want (with local config file), why not...

Anyway, considering Sylvia (dark theme) is no more the default gallery theme but Elegant (dark theme too), having a default clear theme for admin panel could be a bit disturbing, isn't it ?

I agree with Eri, the ontrast on the dark theme is very "relaxing" for me (about problems with video projetor, it's the same problem with all dark interae, fortunately we have the lear one)

if you we want to remove the relation with Sylvia, we ould replae fushia olor by a light grey

[Off topic]LOL ! @mistic100 : It seems that the "C" key on your keyboard has a little problem ;-)) [/Off topic]

What I meant is that as the default theme of the administration should be in line with the default theme of the gallery.

If the clear theme is more suited for some or dark theme for others it is a personal choice that can be set by $conf ['admin_theme'] = 'roma' or $conf ['admin_theme'] = 'clear'.

Maybe we could improve the color scheme, I agree. It is already improved in 2.4 compared to 2.3, but we could make it even better for sure.

I don't think so. Piwigo admin has a completely different usage than Piwigo gallery.

Moreover, the current color scheme on Elegant is dark but Zaphod prepares other color schemes, including a clear one (and maybe in version 2.5 we will propose to select the color scheme on installation screen).

Replacing the pink color with something less flashy could be a good idea indeed (let's keep this idea for version 2.5)

I don't especially want to remove relation with Sylvia, I just think that roma is not suited for being the "default admin theme", it is not "neutral" enough (doesn't display well for most users)

Re: Piwigo 2.4 and default admin theme

I always chose the clear admin theme for all my galleries, and I often chose a dark theme for the gallery...
That are too different things.

The dark theme will not disappear, it's only a question of what admin theme will be the default one.
I totally prefer the clear one.

Re: Piwigo 2.4 and default admin theme

How do I switch the color scheme to "clear" for admin?

It makes me very dizzy, with blurred vision when I have to read light text on a dark background.

Thanks

Re: Piwigo 2.4 and default admin theme

ARE there any other admin themes that can be installed/downloaded?  I've completely deleted the Sylvia theme, but when I click the "change admin theme" button, it goes to this thing called "roma," I guess, but it looks just like Sylvia.  I'm using Stripped & Columns for my front-side, isn't it possible to use that for the admin, too?

I've searched the themes using "admin" and "admin theme" as search filters, but the only one that actually seems to be for admin is the "clear" one, which I don't like that much.

I guess if necessary I can just edit this roma thing to make it match the Stripped/Columns better, I'm fairly expert with CSS and such, but that's a hassle if there are any other admin themes I can download.

That hot pink is lovely but just too vivid against the dark bg, it's terribly distracting -- you just focus on the vivid color instead of whatever it is you're trying to do.

FYI, I'm using Piwigo 2.4.5, installed via Softaculous -- what can I say, I'm trying out some new programs, and having to learn how to install new stuff that you aren't sure yet you want to use, just not time-effective.  Getting Stripped/Columns installed was also a bit challenging, since it depends on Stripped, but at least it gave me little pointers as I went along -- good job!  Definite thumbs-up on the little pointers!

Thx!
Andria
