[resolved] Jump to album

I have just started trying v2.4 having only recently come to Piwigo.
One thing that I have noticed imediately is the phrase "Jump to album"
Wouldn't this be clearer as "Jump to gallery"?

I understood the word Album to be synonymous with Category and not the contents of the photo Gallery.

Re: [resolved] Jump to album

In my understanding of the terminology/language, it is not an 'Album' but a 'Gallery'

[Edit Added:]
When you are already working with/in an album it is confusing to then say 'jump to album'.
This why I suggest it says 'jump to gallery'.
No big deal really!

Re: [resolved] Jump to album

In Piwigo a "gallery" is the whole website. An album is a set of photos.

Re: [resolved] Jump to album

ok, we are getting into semantics here.

Your 'set of photos' contained in an Album is displayed in a Gallery.

If you are in Admin, working on an Album, how can you 'jump to album' when you are already there?

I would prefer to say 'Jump to the set of photos contained in this album in your very own personal gallery' or 'jump to gallery' for short!

On another point, could 'jump to squidge' open a new web browser tab/window please?
It is very annoying to lose where you were within Admin when you jump to the Gallery.

btw I am confused as to the use of Category, which seems synonymous with Album.
Is this historic or what?

When you see jump to album it means you're in the administration panel. As we call the "public" side the gallery I suppose we could replace jump to album by something like see in gallery (which also applies to the jump to photo on the photo administration page)

You can use the Shift+click to open a new tab. The problem to force a new tab is that not everybody wants to open several tabs. From the administration, some links open in the same tab and other open a new tab.

Before Piwigo 2.2, album was called a category in Piwigo.

That's good for me although 'jump' evokes the concept of opening a different web page better :-)

I've just checked Google translate for the French as follows:
In English we distinguish between "see" and "view" but it gives "voir" for both in French.
I would suggest "view in gallery" which is more like "regarder" perhaps...

I agree with that.  While "jump to album" is not a problem once you understand what it does, "view in gallery" matches the intent of the action.

And it also matches the button in the Piwigo Mobile App on my iPhone "See photos in your gallery" :-)

btw when I first installedd the App I couldn't find any way to get to this button in order to view my gallery without uploading a picture first.  Stange.
