[resolved] Image sizes for v2.3 and v2.4
Please can someone explain the best approach to Image sizing for v2.3 and v2.4?
I am new to Piwigo and about to upload 8,000 photos from the last 10 years.
I have them resized ready to upload at about my screen dimensions, say 1620x1080 max.
I will be uploadding into piwigo.com v2.3 with the intention of upgrading to v2.4 with Multisizing.
With 2.3 I have the option of HD (High Definition - hi-res) images. Do I need this?
If I upload the images with "use original" and "no HD" in Ploader, will that be ok for 2.4 later?
I noticed that the Flash Uploader resizes down to 800 pixels. Is this alterable?
An alternative approach might be to use Flash Loader, thus producing HD copies of the original.
I am leaving for a holiday this weekend so I would be grateful for any advice before I go.

I got the answers I need in the Beta group, thanks everyone.
For my old images from my previous Fotopic and Pikfu web-sites, I will reload them into v2.3 as 'Original' with no hi-res / HD Image using pLoader (as Flash Uploader automatically resizes to 800 pixels).
For new images direct into v2.4 I will load them at as high a resolution as is practical, given the bandwidth and time used to upload.

The difference between pLoader and the Flash Uploader is that pLoader is able to resize photo before upload. By default pLoader does not send the "HD". This was designed this way because we wanted to speed up upload.
pLoader has a known bug: HD resize does not work.
With Piwigo 2.4, if you use pLoader, I recommend the following preferences:
1) [pLoader > preferences > web sized] use original
2) [pLoader > preferences > high definition] no

With Piwigo 2.4, the Flash Uploader does not resize the original (unless you ask it, on screen [Administration > Configuration > Options > Multiple Size]

And I absolutely don't recommend these settings if you use Piwigo 2.3 ;-)
