I posted this elsewhere, but i think it's more appropriate here.

Would it be possible to change the album choosing for user uploads to a tree structure, rather then a straight drop down? (like it is currently in ploader)

With my site, i'll be having LOTS of albums, sub-albums, and sub-sub-albums.. and the drop down method is going to get very cumbersome, very quickly.

It's currently like this:

I'm hoping a user can see something like this:

It's an update i'm willing to pay for.

IS this time that the user can upload photos and mapping them?
The user photos could be seen by community on Google Maps?
This is very important because now only the administrator can do that.

Is it possible, that Users can get the right, to modify or delete there own photo?

Additional, I like to define users as moderator for an album tree. They should have the right, do activate, move or hide pictures, check and delete comments etc.

Album in Piwigo is virtual. It has no "owner" ("image" has owner, though). There is a chance when an image belongs to two different "albums". So... I have no idea how the permission on the albums fully work (I can only support some basic features in my plugin.)

I guess that Piwigo design is for single user ((Reading the code and I can only see some options are only available for "admin" through the checking `is_admin()`) ; It requires a big step to support some advanced ACL.

A nice feature is batch support that I really likie to port to users' land. Unfortunately there is only way is to move code from /admin/ to plugin (as I do for the plugin 'icy-picure-modify': the main code was taken from /admin/picture_modify.php)

When using the Community plugin, I'm finding that my regular users cannot create new top level Albums. They can create new sub-albums within existing albums, but if they choose to create a new album in the ----------- top level, they get an error.

Is there a way to allow Community users to create top-level albums?

As I remeber there are only two options in the plugin: one allows user to create a album within a parent album, the other allows user to create album anywhere (aka the user is very powerful).

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately that's not the case. The two options are to "Apply to Sub Albums" and "Allow creation of sub-albums". The first is applicable only if I don't choose the Whole Gallery. The second allows regular users to create sub-albums, but it won't let them create a top level sub-album, only a sub-album to an existing Parent album.

If I use the Upload Photos link as a user with Admin access, I can create top level Albums.

It feels like this is a bug. Like it should be possible to create top level albums.

Any more thoughts?

The account "admin" can do anything in the piwigo system. When you use the plugin "Community", it will affect your normal users, not the account "admin". I don't think there would be a bug here.

Why do you need your user to create album in the top directory? I think that may mess up your gallery. In my small setup, when a user registers their account, I will create one or more album for them, and they can work on those items but they can't work on the top level albums. If some user needs a top-level album they have to ask me to do it for them.

I'm looking to use this as a photo sharing resource for our social group. As a group, we will attend different events and activities, such as a concert, sport event, campout, etc... Members will be taking photos from the same event but from different perspectives. The first person to upload would create the album, subsequent users would add photos to that album. Each event is discrete, and I would like them to be top level. Is there a limit to the number of top level albums?

I don't know if there is a limit to the numbe of top-level albums.

About your need: that's so dynamic ;) As I experience Piwigo works very well with single author (or some small groups of authors). For a big group (as you say) I don't see that Piwigo can help unless you change your group workflow. As you can see in the setting of the plugin "Community" if a user doens't have ability to manage the whole gallery , they can't work on newly created albums.

You make look at ZenPhoto if it helps ;) And I will also take a look at my plugin if it can support that feature.

Minor, but annoying bug: When user creates an album and uploads pictures, this album ist public bey default. The newly created album should inherit the private/public setting and all access settings from the parent album.

I am experiencing the same problem that past poster mentioned. Is there a way to set it so it can inherit the permission from the parent album?

We want people to be able to load into a specific album and allow other register users to see them but they do not need to be made public until later. But I do not want everyone to have admin access. anything I can do to change that?
