I have some albums which contain 0 images, but have a parent album. These albums end up in the count of albums for the parent but are not displayed, making the count wrong. I would like to delete these albums, but can't find a way to do it through the menus. How do I do this in 2.4?

it's a virtual album ?
if you put the cursor over it on Albums->Manage there is a link to delete it
if it's a physical album (added with FTP sync) you must delete the folder via FTP and do a sync on the parent album

That's the answer. It's a Physical album.
I never had a clue as to what a Physical or Virtual album was. Once again, lack of documentation! I appreciate the answers, but I sure wish that there was somewhere that I could figure this stuff out on my own.

I read this multiple times and while I now understand the basic differences, this doesn't begin to address the subtle differences/limitations of a physical vs virtual album. I'm sure that as a developer, you understand these clearly. I can assure you that as an end user, the differences are not clear at all. I would have thought that the only differences were in how they were initially loaded.

I have Piwigo 2.4.1. I removed the album's directory from my "galleries" path, and re-synchronized. The synchronization showed removal of photos from the album in question, but the album is still listed, now with 0 entries. How do I actually remove the album?

At this point I think that you can do an Albums/Manage/pick_your_album and then select "Delete Album".

when you synchronize, you might have selected this album to synch, and not the parent album or the whole gallery
Now just synch the whole gallery, just the repertories, from tools/synch

I just found that if the parent album is huge, it makes this go much quicker if you select "directories only" and uncheck "Synchronize metadata ". I tried it before with the default, which is "directories + files" checked, and it never completed.
