When I select specific photos for an action, for instance to delete or to associate to a virtual album, it says "No photo selected, no action possible." If I hit "Refresh Photo Set" then it realizes photos have been selected, But the "Action" section isn't working. All sorts of choices appear, but no way to make them take effect. I attached a screenshot.
Any ideas?
(I should add, I'm using version 2.4.6, on a FreeBSD server, with php and mysql up to date. I have the default admin theme, as far as I know.)

you must activate Javascript on your web browser to use Piwigo administration
If it's already the case, make sure you don't use Internet Explorer in compatibility mode

Allowing all scripts doesn't seem to change anything. I do run NoScript, but I have scripts-allowed for the admin page. I set it to allow all scripts globally, but it's still the same. I haven't tried disabling NoScript entirely, but, surely, that shouldn't be necessary?
I use Firefox 16.
I also just tried the "select whole page" and "select whole set" options near the top of the page. They also do nothing. It's very odd. It's almost as if javascript isn't working right on that page, regardless of what my settings are.
One other thing: my "Caddie" for some reason has over 5000 photos in it. I can't figure out how to empty it. Maybe I'm running into some kind of memory limits that affect the Batch Manager?? I was trying to work on a recent photos batch, not the caddie, but maybe it's causing a problem.

if you activate the dev console (Ctrl+Maj+K) is there any errors ?

Yes, there are! Lots of warnings, which probably don't matter (?), but the TypeError at the end has a red X next to it.

weird
could you overwrite all Piwigo files from the archive ?
Offline
Um, what do you mean? Do a new install of piwigo?
Offline
no, just download the full archive of Piwigo and transfert all files again, no need to reinstall
Offline
I'm still not sure what you mean. I better ask for a step-by-step:
1) download the piwigo 2.4.6 zip file,
2) unpack, and
3) copy over all the files to my photo site.
Is that what you mean? Am I missing steps? (I'm confused because to me that's "reinstalling" :D. How would a reinstall differ?)
Offline
When you 'overwrite' the files all data/photos will still exist in directories and the database and visiting the site will show all previous photos etc.
A 're-install' requires the removal of all database tables and config files photos etc so visiting the site will generate a new installation process to create the database tables etc again, and photos will need re-uploading.
Does that make sense??

Ah. Right. I see. I'll try the archive-overwrite thingy as soon as I have a few minutes and hope for the best.

Well, not-so-good news. I tried the overwrite with newly downloaded and extracted archive, but the problem is still there.
To be exact, I overwrote only the "admin" directory and all its subdirs. I was hoping that would include everything relevant to admin functions. (My connection has been slow lately.)
First I upgraded my site to 2.4.7, then I downloaded 2.4.7, extracted, and copied "admin" over.
However, as I say, I still have the problem. How about my earlier theory that the system is choked because the caddie has THOUSANDS (5500) of photos in it. (The default is to add all new photos to the caddie, which I hadn't realized. I had some trouble upgrading from 1.7.x or 1.9.x to 2.4.6 and had to re-sync all my photos. So the caddie is holding everything!) You're supposed to empty it by using the Batch Manager . . . but that's exactly my problem: Batch Manager isn't working!
Is there an actual file I can delete? Or anything I can do by altering a script or using command line?
Or does someone have another suggestion?
Offline
the main javascript error is because TipTip is not present, and this jQuery plugin is not located in "admin" but in "themes", so if you don't overwrite it too the problem can't be solved..... (please overwrite all files, no matter how your connection is low, there might be other errors)
Otherwise I'm sure this is not a problem with the caddie size, but if you really want to empty it : truncate the table piwigo_caddie through PhpMyAdmin

Okay. Thanks. There are no shortcuts :D.

After my last post, everything busted loose. I managed to drop my camera in a parking lot, which it did not like! Anyway, finally got around to the business of copying over all files, aaaand....
it worked! I can now use the Batch Manager again.
So, just as you thought, somewhere there was a corrupted file. I wish I could have figured out which one and why, but, hey, whatever works. :D
