"Disable the animation" leaves the Photo Description Panel open, and the Comments Panel also, but the Main Menu Panel closed.
I think we should have the choice for all 3 (Menu, Photo and Comments).
I don't like the phrase "Disable the animation".
It would be better to have two columns Open and Closed to provide all possible options.

The main panel staying closed is obviously a bug
Disable the animation means that the panel will always be opened

Sorry, Flop, I'm not exactly sure what you are saying!
I still would like the choice of permanently Open or Closed for each Panel.
If the Main Menu Panel is permanently Closed, we need the options like at the bottom of the Stripped Theme (Logout, Admin. etc)

For me it's not an option
core themes are designed to be used with the menu (except on picture page)

I still would like the option to choose Permanently Open or Permanently Closed not "Disable the animation"
for each of the 3 Panels - Main Menu, Photo Description and Comments.
I have a gallery I want to keep as simple as possible and not offer the users the choice.
I can live without direct access to "Administration" from the Main Menu.

"Permanently closed" is and will not be an option for all panels, because it's like disabling features
So if you're getting the main menu permanently close, that's a bug and I would like steps to reproduce (initial state etc)

I accept that the initial state of Main Menu Panel for "Disable the animation" is a bug in that it should be Open not Closed.
The other two Panels are Open for "Disable the animation".
I have 4 screen dumps if you need them - "Hidden" shows the ">>" arrow in the Gallery.
Changing this to "Disable the animation" shows no arrow in the Gallery and so you cannot get to the Main Menu.
However, what is wrong with the option to disable features? Why can't we choose to do so if we want to? We're all grown-up aren't we? ;)

^_^ yes I know. But if you really want to you will need to use Css and also add an other menu with what you want to keep
I'm not considering people as stupid; people are stupid. There will always be someone to push instead of pulling a door even if it's written.
We already got people which didn't known how to go to their administration because of the retractable menu of Stripped
