[resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

Hi Piwigo users,

A user of Piwigo told me that all his photos have become blurry at the same time a few days ago. Resized photos have not changed on the server (they were generated months ago).

Can you go on http://brianbaldwinphotos.piwigo.com/in … unfinished  click on a photo and tell us if it's blurry or not?

As far as I can see, the photos are perfectly sharp.

My feeling is that he uses the zoom in Internet Explorer.

Re: [resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

For example on http://brianbaldwinphotos.piwigo.com/pi … unfinished

Here is an example of what I see:

size L (in the Lightbox) I see no blur on the resize. Do you?

size L (in the Lightbox) + zoom in the web browser (Firefox here) this one is blurry I agree, but Piwigo can't do anything about it.
http://piwigo.org/forum/showimage.php?pid=146634&filename=sizeL-zoom.png

compared to the same crop on the Original size:

IE11 no problem

I also think that a zoomed page it the most possible source of the problem

Re: [resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

The user keep saying Piwigo makes his photo blurry :-/ He now compares it to Facebook and says Facebook is better. What do you think?

Piwigo Vs Facebook

Piwigo resized photo = 475x756, 267KB
Facebook resized photo = 603x960 pixels, 130KB

Re: [resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

For me the Facebook photo is overly compressed, we see JPEG compression artifacts. It must be a 70% quality, while Piwigo uses 95% quality. This is why Piwigo photo weights twice more.

Re: [resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

Today the user says:

However, NOW, suddenly, the photos appear to be back to original clarity.

Nothing has changed on Piwigo side. The user doesn't know what "zoom" is. I think it was the problem and that he has disabled zoom.

Problem solved, there is no blur issue in Piwigo. Image quality is much better on Piwigo compared to Facebook. Period.

Re: [resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

Hi,
why is only possible to set 98% of picture quality?
I don´t want to use any compression of jpg images. I see a big difference compared what I upload and what is displayed for example on M size.

Re: [resolved] problem of blur, need your feedback

I've actually been noticing this problem as well.  I took screenshots of it happening a week or two ago, but forgot about it and then got tied up with work.

Attached are two photos, one labeled blurry and one labeled notblurry.  The blurry photo is on initial page load.  if you reload the page again, the previously blurry photo is nice and sharp...I've had this happen with 3 different themes I've used now, greydragon, stripped responsive and modus.
