I wonder if anyone can help me. I love the Guestbook plugin, and gives visitors to my website somewhere to leave a comment, but it gets hit by spammers constantly and when I hadn't checked it for a while there where hundreds of comments, all from dodgy email addresses and websites.
I even put the CryptoCaptcha plugin in place (great by the way!) but they still seems to be able to add comments. I am making the presumption that people are doing this manually, but is it still possible for robots to post entries via the guestbook without getting trapped by the captcha?
Thanks in advance,
Simon.

There is no change robots could solve the captcha (it is not worth it)
you can try Akismet too (it will only work if you use Piwigo 2.6 with the last version of the plugin)

Thanks mistic.
I'll have to accept the fact that there are people with nothing better to do but spam websites!
I'll take a look Akismet also, so thanks for that!

Stop Spammers + RV Akismet + Crypto Captcha = very efficient against comment spam.
mistic, do you know if Stop Spammers works with Guestbook? (I haven't tried yet)

I just made the necessary changes on rv_akismet (SVN) [Subversion] r26859
you can make the same thing on Stop Spammers

OK.
I would also like to make a change on Stop Spammers + Akismet : if Akismet says it's a spam, then we register the IP address in piwigo_stop_spammers. Next time this IP tries to add a comment, we don't even request akismet.com (less HTTP requests on akismet.com, faster and more efficient)
