Displaying Caption/Description

Hi

Slowly working on understanding Piwigo. I've searched the forum and it appears that one cannot display the Caption by default. I hope I am wrong. I think that many would like it to show.

Example in Menalto: http://knobby.ws/gallery3/Family-and-Fr … rk-North-7

Same page in Piwigo. I've turned on the metadata for caption, so it shows, but I'd like it with the photo and don't want the user to have to turn on the info.

Thanks

Piwigo version: 2.6.3
Piwigo URL: http://knobby.ws/gallery/

Re: Displaying Caption/Description

Isn't it possible to tell Piwigo to populate the photo description with the file EXIF ?
(I never use EXIF so I don't know the parameters)

Re: Displaying Caption/Description

Thank you flop25. A step in the right direction.

But I still want to display the caption centered below the photo.

Edit: deleted most of my comments as I found http://piwigo.org/doc/doku.php?id=dev:e … e_creation

Not sure how I found it as I haven't figured out how the docs work. Seems to be hit or miss. Haven't found any organized docs. The menu bar item "Docs" on the main piwigo.org site links to a page without the word template.

Thank you for the pointer, maybe I can figure it out.

Re: Displaying Caption/Description

Replying to self.

Looking at what I need to understand to go forward.

Smarty

And figuring out what all the variables are named and refer to. Is there a list of these variables. Or am I on the wrong track?

For example:
$ELEMENT_CONTENT might be the image, but then not sure.

What would caption or description be?

I'm not too familiar with PHP either, so it's a steep hill to just trying to add captions to the photos when they are on a page by themselves.

But I would appreciate any help.

Re: Displaying Caption/Description

I still don't get what's your issue with the "caption": the description of a picture is populated with the exif, and you can add it manually
