Greetings,
Would be good (critical) to have Social Gallery-like social lightbox either in core or as a plugin.

Hi
There already are the Social Buttons and Facebook Integration plugins which do almost all the job
As this particular wordpress plugin is not Open Source it can't be adapted to Piwigo anyway, but one (you ?) can create a clone from scratch

Actually the link I provided leads to wordpress.org repo, where ALL plugins are OpenSource.
The decription of Social Buttons plugin here indicates a very different type of plugin but I will search for Facebook Integration plugin and see if it replicates the functionality.

Checked out
Facebook Integration http://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=469 and
Social Buttons http://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=673
Not even close to what Social Gallery does.

Hi
I'm the owner of Social Gallery (http://codecanyon.net/item/social-galle … in/2665332)
It could be possible to port over to piwigo and is something I could be interested in. However, to make the development worthwhile - are there options for a premium add on?
Mike
You can perfectly create a paid plugin for Piwigo BUT you won't be able to publish it on this website, nor in the "Add new plugin" page on Piwigo installations
So users will have to know your plugin exist and manually install it, no need to say, a very limited range of users
I also don't know about making it available on Piwigo.com (certainly not possible as all galleries share the same source code)

Hello
Since things about paid extensions are just coming, we can do something to allow extensions to add their own repository for updates.
You're feedback about it would be greatly appreciated.
the plugins could also handle itself its updates and a kind of downloader plugin could be on the piwigo.org repo

In WP, paid plugins are different category, but so we do not wait for similar back end here, you can always offer an "upgrade", i.e. plugins section would offer "light" version, but user then can request/download full version and do inline update. There would need to be some code magic to prevent code override if user by mistake download new "light" version over existing "paid" one, but I think it can be dealt with

However, piwigo should start to allow/support commercial, professional themes, plugins or any other extensions. Any other other open source system, like magento, worldpress, prestashop goes this way.
I would love to see if EpicPlugins start with it.

in fact, that's on the side of the freelance devs to act: the envato has an api to handle everything (payement, download etc) http://marketplace.envato.com/api/documentation
and the Envato WordPress Toolkit had to be downloaded by the client to get his extensions updated

Why should Envato keep a big portion of the money?
Like Magento or Prestashop or OpenCart, Piwigo should allow "commercial" listings of approved premium plugins, and charge a 10% fee on any bought in the Piwigo extensions repo.

I absolutely agree. We all are interested in a strong and growing piwigo eco-system. To make a little bit money helps a lot on this way ;-)

Magento is pushed by a company, we are not
And we are French. There are strict laws about sources of incomes. The Piwigo Association (non profit) just can't charge fees on a commercial basis
(That's my understanding of the system, perhaps I miss something)

Non profit doesn't mean you can't charge for a service. It just means you can't earn profits. You CAN earn enough to pay for hosting etc.
Anyway, let's say Piwigo doesn't want the money. How about letting developers list their commercial plugins in Piwigo repo for free? No reason why they should be left to the mercy of Envato.

There is: Open Source, as long as every part of the plugin (even the part which check if the user actually paid for the plugin) is Open Source, no problem
even if we are talking about not compiled languages (PHP, JS, HTML) the code might be "open" but not Open Source (this project of mines for example is not Open Source, https://github.com/mistic100/LeBonSamaritainSQLI)
I don't have example of non-free Open Source softwares, but there are
