I find the selection bar for File Sizes very confusing as it is non-linear.

In my example, I have files between 0.1 and 10.2 MB.
If I move the slider across to half-way, I would expect to select files between about 5 MB and 10 MB.
Instead I get 1.3 to 10MB.

I find this confusing, non-intuitive and indeed mystifying!

At the very least, could you display the number of photos selected for each setting as you move the slider?

not easily, because the request is done after the button is pressed; what you're asking would require having all the sizes cached somewhere or ajax requests
so much more dev

personnaly do'nt know how is build the slider (maybe the scale/subdivision depends on your pictures and so you have half pictures between 1.3 and 10MB)

Obviously if this cannot be achieved easily, then forget it!
However, the maestro did say to me a month ago:
