Video and html5
Hello
This message is related to Piwigo, because I try to manage the charlie's content plugin (and I'm very late on this respect).
The plugin allows, among other things, using flv files and it's what I do for my own gallery. But I would like to get rid of any flash version, so go to html5. I know there are several plugins in piwigo to manage html5, so I may simply use them.
But the main problem is that html5 *video* is not very well implemented in many devices. So I would like to know how you manage this problem.
In short, I make my videos on my linux computer and upload them as Piwigo galleries. AFAIK it needs at least two file formats for html5 to be read everywhere (mp4 and ogg or webm). This double the need of disk space and upload bandwidth.
Do you use html5 video? with what plugin? what video/audio format (I need a pretty good one, specially for sound, 192kb/s is a minimum?
Do you have file examples (in piwigo or out)?

As an alternative, you can use jplayer http://piwigo.org/ext/extension_view.php?eid=594

yes, I know.
my problem is that the video files are not always played. The goal is to have them readable on any device. For computers there are always solutions, but for mobile phones it's more difficult.
So what I ask is: can you read the video on the indicated page?
the link you wrote, have at least one interesting feature: the --optimize (with mp4file), because owncloud, for example do not play well good mp4, may be because this, to be verified

To play you video on all device you need to have a compatible format.
So far H264 and AAC is the most common and supported format.
If the video does not play the format is wrong. A MP4 file does not mean you have a valid video and audio codec.
Use MediaInfo to check the video details as mention in the wiki page.
If you think you file is supported and should you can always create an issue the VideoJS plugin and we can take a look at it.

it's not the plugin fault, it build a perfectly correct html5page :-)
in fact I used (now) the command lines described in the links published here an the result seems a bit better than mine.
With my configuration, I had to provide mp4 *and* ogv files. With the new setup, looks like mp4 is fitting more browsers. Still there are so many browsers around, I would like to see what the reader here can say. Having only one file would be a great enhancement :-)

I still have problem, some videos made with the indicated handbrake link works, but not all: this code:

as you can see it's pretty simple :-), but may be it lacks some option?
