not really in our roadmap nor very easy
sorry
I would rather prefer to see a merged system than conversion tools

Please clarify...

If one uploads images to /galleries/ , and also via html page upload (/Uploads/) ...
there is no way to copy the original image names  from/Uploads/ images,
to the /galleries/ folder ?

Please help my understanding.

not that way; from physical to virtual, there are two plugins avalaible
