Hi

I am new to Piwigo, or I will be if I an get it working. I had a Gallery 3 site and have now decided to try to sort out a replacement. I am not very technical and the reports said this was easy.

I have tried uploading the Net install but that tells me "You don't have permission to access /piwigo/install.php on this server."

I tried uploading the Manual install. I extracted teh files to a folder called piwigo and FTP'd them to my webspace. When I went to http://photos.roanjora.co.uk/piwigo it told me "You don't have permission to access /piwigo on this server."

I am using unlimitedwebhosting.co.uk

If anyone has any ideas for a Non Techie that would be great. Thnaks

Piwigo version: 2.7.4
PHP version: 5.4.34
MySQL version: 5.5.36 ??? Not sure if this is correct

Have managed to get further.

I removed everything then tried the Net install. Now the Install screen comes up and it asks for details of my Database. (Attached)

Now I am lost. Are there any more detailed instructions anywhere?

I wanted to use Piwigo but it seems to complicated to set up.

The step you are on is explained in detail. You need this info from your web hosting provider

I am working on mine now so I can understand it is confusing but stick with it, it is worth it! So far I have a working gallery (not live on my site) I will integrate into my site over the next week or so

Thanks gdecamp. You gve me new hope and we got it resolved.

Now in and having a look round. Started teh tour but got impatient so clicked on Create a new album but nothing happened.

Anyone else have this problem?

Click on "add new photos" and see if it asks you to choose where to put them. Maybe it's created already? Not really sure....

Yes, sorry, meant to post. Finally got it all working.

Its so much easier to upload photos than Gallery, and so much quicker. I'm loving it.

I wish I had more time to spend on it but life is crazy at the moment.

Site is at photos.roanjora.co.uk. only a few albums up but putting some pics up from Crufts.

Wanted to use the Simply White theme but when I install it, it wont let me activate it.

I have posted a thread on Themes about this. Loads of views but no replies.

So thanks gdecamp for your encouragement to persevere.

And if anyone knows how to get Simply White Theme active that would be even better.
