[resolved] How to change "About" page

How do I change what is shown on the "About" page?

Curently it shows

"This photo gallery is based on Piwigo.

Piwigo is a photo gallery software for the web, built by an active community of users and developers. Extensions make Piwigo easily customizable. Icing on the cake, Piwigo is free and opensource.

I want to replace this with a short Bio about myself

I'm using 2.1.2 and theme Simple Grey

Hi mbaumser,

Currently (Piwigo 2.1), there is no easy way to edit this page BUT you can create another page very easily with [extension by P@t] Additional Pages

Re: [resolved] How to change "About" page

I would have thought the text was in a seperate file that was read in but I guess not.

Thanks

Yes it is, see languages/en_UK/about.html. But this file may be modified in next Piwigo version and you will lose your specific changes when you upgrade.

Re: [resolved] How to change "About" page

Just checking to see if this has changed recently.  If it hasn't changed, wouldn't it be possible to have a "local" about file, similar to the local config file, that is used as a substitute, or merged with the provided one, so that one could easily update this without having to worry about overwriting with upgrades.

Thanks,
Vern

The problem is that your changes will be erased on next Piwigo update :-/ Using [extension by P@t] Additional Pages is safer.

Re: [resolved] How to change "About" page

So... installing an extension to create a second "about" page" is really the best solution you can come up with?

Why not just allow us to edit the existing "about" page in site adming, without overwriting it with the default every time we update? It can't possibly be that hard to add that ability.

Re: [resolved] How to change "About" page

so answering a 5 years old thread without searching "about" in the extension to find [extension by ddtddt] PersoAbout as the first occurrence is really the best solution you can come up with?

Re: [resolved] How to change "About" page

Hi. This might answer another question I've piggy-backed on because I'm trying to set up a text-based page that describes the site and gives some details on pricing. I have the Additional Pages plugin but no idea what code to put into it and it wants Full HTML Structure. I'm afraid I simply don't have the necessary html knowledge to create the necessary structure. I've tried adapting the structure used for the Home Page (using the provided Standalone Home Page template) but that didn't work because I don't know what bits to include and which to leave out. I've also tried adapting the Piwigo About page but I'm using the Stripped theme and it just looks odd.

I'm using 2.8.3.

Thanks for any help and apologies if I'm breaking protocol by further piggy-backing.
