Hello/Hi/Greetings,
I have found that some photos are in the wrong album and I'd like to move them to another. I haven't yet found a way to do this using the admin tools and wonder if it is possible?
Could it be done in a file manager by moving the files around in the ./galleries folder and rsyncing? I'm loath to try this out in case I mess up the site totally.

Not quite. I find that the photo(s) are copied to the destination album rather than moved. A typical result is shown in the screenshot attached where the photo is listed as belonging to both albums.

If you are using physical albums (like me) check out my plugin:

Thanks for the link. Where does it appear in the admin menus? I don't see under admin/plugins.

It appears under Batch Manager actions ("Move to physical album") and on individual photo properties (Move tab).

Thanks now I see. This just the job.

I tried to use this plugin today. tried moving one photo, it appeared in the new directory. then I found still in the old directory. so I resynced, then deleted the one in the old dir....now the photo is gone in both....

This sounds like maybe you "moved" (linked) it to a virtual album? Did you use the "Move" tab on the photo details or the "Move to physical album" action in Batch Manager? Those are the items added by my plug-in.

The photos were in physical albums (/piwigo/galleries/name). It was not easy to find where i can move photos but easily done it with moving an entire album.
I was on the photo details and used "move" there. but briefly I saw it in the new album AND then OLD one. I deleted the photo in the old one and it also is gone in the new one.

I'm not sure what would cause that. Did you see any messages from the plug-in during the move? If you leave "simulation mode" on what messages do you see?
Offline
the simulation and the real thing both said the photo move was a success.
but I know I did not use the batch processor.
maybe I should take a tour of the plugin because I do not understand the difference between global and single mode and also what does the "basket" do.
thanks for writing the plugin!

The basket/caddie is not part of my plugin, that's a piece of core Piwigo functionality. My plugin just links into the Batch Manager and Photo Details adding the option to move a physical photo from one physical album to another. I have a detailed explanation of the plugin here:

If you do continue to have repeatable problems, please log an issue in Github (https://github.com/jradwan/Piwigo-physi … ove/issues) and I'll do what I can to look into it. I have not had any reports of photo loss using my plugin so I apologize that you lost some images. :(

no worries. I lost one photo and I put it back today. just lost its counter number :)
I will read your writing and see if I can move one better next time.
