Looks like albums are "locked" e.g available only to administrators

As you always did before everything went crazy. Make all albums private, but leave them unlocked.

For me, it shows no albums, and zero photos.

I see exactly one and only one album: Diecast

Make sure your browser's cache isn't playing tricks on you, clear cache or use another instance or container or private window.

Ok so it seems that when you batch manage more the 200 images it doesnt actually hold the change of who can see it. So I had to break it up into sections and change its visibility. All is fine now.
