Hello there,
I have edited the EXIF metadata for my photos but when I upload them, it says it cannot find the copyright info from within the metadata info (I am using the simple copyrights extension).
I decided to try and download a photo to see what was going on, lo and behold, when I downloaded the same photo, the metadata which I had entered had disappeared, as if it was not loaded when I initially uploaded the photo.
Am I doing something wrong? I am using the default web batch loader found within piwigo,

I think I figured out what the problem is.
The problem was, the simple copyright extension only recognizes IPTC metadata. All my photos have the standard Exif metadata, which is more than likely the reason why the metadata is not being uploaded.
I will have to find a metadata editor that will edit the IPTC data and try again.

As previously stated, It was indeed that I did not have the IPTC tag info in my metadata.
I managed to find an EXIF metadata editor that will let you edit EXIF and IPTC (among other) tags and now all is well.
