I would like to request a plugin please which adds functionality to readily and easily share photos to forums and to social media.
Lychee has this implemented in core - see https://lychee.electerious.com/ scroll down and click on number 4.
As far as I'm concerned the direct link is the most important.
Even better if bbcode could be included - so that when clicked it copies the URL (with surrounding IMG tags) to teh clipboard for an easy 'paste' over on the forum.
Obviously social media sharing is also a big thing among the kids these days LOL
Ideally I'd like to see this in the piwigo core but until that occurs (if ever) a plugin to achieve this would be MOST WELCOME.
Thank you.

as one who avoid social media like the plague, I would prefer it wasn't in the core

Yeah social media is the least of my concerns - I want to be able to share it in forums. This was in fact why I decided to go with piwigo in the first instance. Just can't seem to be able to do it anymore?
The way Lychee does it seems sensible, but even just having the permalink listed under a photo would be very helpful for me. (This is done very well by the SMF forum plugin 'SMF gallery' if anyone is familiar with that? I can screenshot if desired).
I really do think it's something that ought to be in core but as long as I can get the function a plugin would be fine.
Is anyone able to 'whip up' such a plugin please?

For clarity this is how 'SMF gallery' does it
See the photo.
1: This is a field showing the BB code for a direct link to the photo
In the gallery settings its possible to have multiple fields here, including BBcode, HTML, etc
2: Clicking this icon to the right of the field, copies the contents of the field to the clipboard
It's then a simple matter to go to the forum post being created and simply click paste - job done.
In the case of a plugin for piwigo I'd also suggest that the code shown would be generated based on the currently displayed size (from that drop down menu)

Just tried this on a new install unfortunately its no longer compatible..
Deprecated: Methods with the same name as their class will not be constructors in a future version of PHP; PiwiShack has a deprecated constructor in /public_html/piwigo/plugins/piwishack/class.inc.php on line 21 Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /public_html/piwigo/plugins/piwishack/class.inc.php:21) in /public_html/piwigo/include/page_header.php on line 86
Looks like the above error was fixed, although it dont make it compatible
https://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php? … 81#p171681
Find in /plugins/piwishack/class.inc.php
function PiwiShack($plugin_name, $plugin_path)
change to
function __construct($plugin_name, $plugin_path)

If you read carefully you will see that there is no error, and that it is warning you about some future versions.
(If you search the forum for "deprecated" you will find out how to turn these off)
Does the plugin still do its job?
When you look at the plugin page, the author hasn't touched the plugin in 6 years, and likely won't again.
My advice is to do the manual fix. That will be as compatible as it gets.

Plugin works ok now after I made the edits, one or two other edits I made also.
I'm not clever enough to be able to make it compatible though :(

I couldn't get that working, so it'd be great if someone could write an updated 'lite' mod fro sharing. As far as I'm concerned I ONLY need BBcode.
Sure I can right click on the image and click copy url BUT that only works in some browsers not others, and I don't always have access to the appropriate ones.
This is really one of the few frustrations I have with piwigo, it's good otherwise.
