I think I may have requirement conflicts. I can understand not meeting minimum software versions causing problems installing other packages.

I think the Softaculous installer checks for explicit PHP versions, with different action scripts for each of the versions looked for. I had installed XAMPP with PHP 7.4 compatibility. Perhaps piwigo has specific compatibility requirements I violated. 'Reverse compatibility' may occur at times, but not by luck or automatically.

Well, failure is a learning tool as well (I hope).
