Re: Piwigo 11

I had absolutely no problem grasping the version number change.

You just drop a digit.

So you actually went from 2.10 to 11.0?

Yes, and we made a quite big explanation about it. First on the 11.0.0beta5 announcement then on the 11.0.0 release notes

I know the versionning does not match a perfectly conventionnal pattern. But versionning is also a "marketing" tool and we simply use it :-)

Re: Piwigo 11

I did a fresh install of 11.0.0.  Not an upgrade from an older version.  I'm new to Piwigo, and it took me some time to get my "sea legs", as it were.

Everything seems to have gone decently well (and Thanks so much for the great work, Piwigo devs).

I do have one outstanding bug/misconfigfuration I wasn't able to clear up yet, explained here:
[Forum, post 179075 by esbeeb in topic 28197] Upload from Shotwell no longer working?

In a nutshell, I can successfully upload a file from Shotwell (using the Piwigo Plugin), **if the photo is under 2MB**.  But I still can't upload a photo from Shotwell, if it is over 2MB (and, interestingly, that > 2MB upload  **can** be done successfully through the web admin interface).

Re: Piwigo 11

Great to see Piwigo continue to be maintained and improved. It is a great self-hosting photo gallery. The fact that it is developed by a community under a libre license is fantastic.

I have not found a page/link that lists the minimum/recommended hardware/software (e.g., operating systems, database (MySQL, MariaDB, etc.) version, PHP,  etc) specification or environment. I suspect it might be quite broad (i.e., Piwigo runs on just about everything).

If there is a hardware/software incompatibility with Piwigo and a specification page has not been created, is the Piwigo Forum the best place for this information?

Cheers!

Re: Piwigo 11

I guess I won't be upgrading yet then.  I have an entire album that is a Video Library where I use Embedded Videos.  Not going to lose that!

Re: Piwigo 11

Update look promising, good job !

I just set up piwigo a few weeks ago to migrate from flickr.

As a lot of people here, gonna wait a bit to have more compatible plugins to update to 11 (especially RV Thumb Scroller, GThumb+ &  SmartAlbums)

Bit worried that some great plugins have apparently stopped being maintained (SmartAlbums for instance).

Any plans on integrating some to the main build ?

Thanks for the link. That page is awesome! :-)

Re: Piwigo 11

Hi,

I still use 2.10, because the following plugins are not available:

dummer-esel wrote:

SortOrders
    VideoJS
    Rotate Image
    rightClick
    EasyRotate
    SmartAlbums
    Fotorama
    RV Menu Tree
    GThumb+
    jplayer
    Preload

Now, it doesn't show anymore the plugins that are not compatible, only the button to update to 11.1.0 directly!
I guess that the plugins are not actually fixed, right? Just that 11.0 is being skipped for upgrade, now that 11.1 already exists. Am I correct?

So for now I will stay with 2.10 until the most important plugins are available again. (hope there will be some kind of long term support for security patches? ^^)

Re: Piwigo 11

Plugins are just not listed with 11.1.0, the "incompatibility" (there may be none) flag remains. For example, Fotorama and GThumb+ work perfectly fine for me. See also [Forum, topic 30934] Piwigo 11.1.0 plugin incompatibilities? Just what and why?.

Re: Piwigo 11

I just did fresh install of pwg11 on a new site I'm starting on. I have to say the new admin look is really nice.

It's very clean, clear, and modern looking. I notice good use of color and rounded corners. It looks more unified and consistent, and less like a scrapbook.
Huge improvement.

I also like
- the 'dark mode' feature.
- the storage stats
- the non intrusive dialog boxes.
- context menus
- it's quick and responsive.

Thumbs up.

That was a bug, due to the versionning change I just pushed a fix on piwigo.org/ext to "fake" a version 11.1 (and 11.2, 11.3...) so that Piwigo 2.10 can find plugins incompatible with 11.1 (while this version does not exist on piwigo.org/ext)
