Some albums show metadata button on picture page (don't want it to)

Hello,
I apologise in advance for what is surely obvious and simple for most of you, and I did search the forum and FAQ over the past few days but didn't find a definite answer about this particular thing.

I currently have 136 albums, and a few of them show a black "Exif metadata" button on the picture page, and I don't want it to. Reading as many forum posts about exif as I could manage, I saw this: $conf['show_exif'] = false; so I pasted that onto the css using the Local File Editor but it didn't make any difference. (I don't know css so tried pasting that code in various places on the page but it had no effect.)

I will be grateful for any help,
merci,
Bob

Hello, it's not on the css tab you have to enter this line in Local File Editor, but into the first tab "Local config" and place the code between <?php and ?>

Thank youvery much  Katryne for the reply.

When I open Local File Editor, I have only one tab - "css".

Please give info about your site : piwigo version, LocalFile Edtor version, Php version of the server.
That is not normal, Local file Editor comes with several tabs.

Re: Some albums show metadata button on picture page (don't want it to)

Piwigo version 13.3.0
Local Files Editor version 13.3.0
Stripped theme, version 2.5.8
"Php version of the server": I don't know! My site is hosted on Piwigo: bdphotos.piwigo.com so it must be the latest php version there, but I don't know anything about that.

I just looked again, and in Local Files Editor there is only one tab: css.

Thank you,
Bob

If your site is hosted at Piwigo.com, the settings you can personnally modify are limited. You must ask them by mail for most modifications. And everything will not be available.

Re: Some albums show metadata button on picture page (don't want it to)

You're right! I just installed Piwigo on my website and there are many more options. I will keep trying to email Piwigo support - I have several times the past two weeks but never get a reply so far.

Thanks for the advice,
Bob

Re: Some albums show metadata button on picture page (don't want it to)

Haven't had any replies to my recent emails to support (it's been two weeks or so) but I found a way around the problem - I still had the original photos, so I re-saved all of them in Gimp as pngs, and turned off "Save metadata", then replaced them all, one at a time, using the "Update" plugin. Now the big black "Exif metadata" button on the photo page doesn't appear. It's a slow way to fix it, and I don't know why only a few albums had the problem, but that's one way around it.

Now if I can just figure out why Look like GB0 doesn't work anymore I'll be happy! I just want the black border around the photos again, without having to re-edit the originals and add a border, replace etc etc.

Bob
