Using an old "upload" folder in a clean installation

Hello everyone,

all I have from a previous Piwigo gallery is the "upload" folder with around 5 GB of all the photos I uploaded in the past years. Now, I want to make a clean setup of a new Piwigo gallery, but I want to use this "upload" folder. Will it work if I just copy it in the Piwigo folder via FTP?

Thank you in advance!

That will not add anything to the database.

right, just uploading pics to the upload folder via FTP wont do anything.

What if he runs a sync job. Then Piwigo will be able to see those pics and add them to its DB, no?

Re: Using an old "upload" folder in a clean installation

Sync syncs database from directories and images under galleries/ not uploads/

If you'd sync what previously was under uploads/ (e.g. having moved it to galleries/) you'd end up with the directory and name structure as is, not the previous album names, but the current year/month/day/... directories as physical album names instead. Likely not what is wanted.

The only way to recreate the previous virtual albums structure would be to MySQL import the database dump of the previous installation.

Re: Using an old "upload" folder in a clean installation

I have a similar question.  I was running on CentOS 7.  Decided it was time to update.  Tried to update to RHEL 8 then to 9, but that was a disaster.  I had kept a dump of my database and my piwigo directory.  I did a clean install of RHEL 9 and then loaded the database.  I then did a fresh install of piwigo followed by uploading my piwigo directory.  When I try to look at that directory, all I get is something like:

0 && $page['start']>=count($page['items'])) { page_not_found('', duplicate_index_url(array('start'=>0))); } trigger_notify('loc_begin_index'); //---------------------------------------------- change of image

Is what I was trying to do possible?  If so, any ideas how to troubleshoot?  If not, I guess I have to start uploading all of the pictures again?

Re: Using an old "upload" folder in a clean installation

Make sure you have PHP installed and enabled for Apache or whatever web server you use. If you're seeing source code of index.php it's not been interpreted. And no, that's not "a similar question".

Sorry.  I will move it to a new question and will check for php.  Thanks!
