First bugs fixed for Piwigo 16 : release 16.1.0 is available. We've been busy these last 7 days fixing a few upgrade issues and PHP compatibility issues (as well as plugins issues). Piwigo 16 is now compatible with both PHP 7.4 and 8.5... and everything in between.
Thank you for your feedbacks. It helps us to make Piwigo always more robust.

Sziasztok!
Segítségeteket előre is köszönöm!
Tisztelettel, Kógl Imre

Hello!
Unfortunately, my provider has PHP: 7.1.33 version, so I can't update my Piwigó gallery to the latest one.
I tried, but nothing worked, it gave an error on a white blank page.
It would be nice if you could make it compatible with PHP: 7.1.33 version so that I can update it too!
Thank you in advance for your help!
Best regards, Imre Kógl

I think you should kick your provider for using such an old outdated version of PHP. As mentionend in other threads the minimum version supported is 7.4.
So, unless your provider upgrades to hopefully 8.4 you will not be able to install piwigo in the newest version.

PHP 7.1 branch has reached its end of life (security support) on December 2019. 6 years ago. If he is serious, your hosting provider must give you the possibility to update PHP to 8.2 or 8.3. Piwigo won't go back to being compatible with PHP 7.1. Piwigo 16 is still compatible with PHP 7.4 but Piwigo 17 may require PHP 8.x.
The reason of our increased required PHP version (from 7.1 to 7.4) is the update of Smarty (template engine) : to be compatible with PHP 8.4, we had to update to Smarty 5, which requires PHP 7.4. We won't modify Smarty.
