Hello/Hi/Greetings,

I've just come to Piwigo from several years at SmugMug. Having just retired, I decided the cost/benefit ratio of my photography hobby needed fixed. I built my site on my little staging server and then moved it to my ISP's shared Linux box. After numerous embarrassing mistakes and misfires, I'm here and it looks and operates more or less as I intended. I'm using Bootstrap Darkroom and Gthumb+ to get nice masonry-style album pages.  The ShareAlbum plugin gives me the ability to hide entire albums but let people with the links I give them into them. Great for showing proofs to private clients and makes hiding private family albums work perfectly. (All of this was set up with the advice and assistance of my smarty-pants AI.)

Couple of pointy things are in my bustle still, and I'm wondering if there are easy ways to dig them out. I could ask the AI but I have a feeling actual users will have more practical ideas about fixing weird problems.  First is the overall size of everything on my pages. Everything is almost cartoonishly big. I can change my browser scale of course but I'd hate to impose that on visitors. Any ideas? Should I be using a more stylish theme? Does changing themes have any lasting effects between changes? (I've been burned by intrusive theme code on other products.)

Then there's image caching. Having transferred a few thousand images from my staging server directly into the db of my public server, I've lost the entire image cache which was just too large to upload. Any suggestions about how to build all those images without having to visit each and every album?
