Blog Plugin

Hi,   I've recently installed Piwigo on my domain and think it's excellent, however I would find it useful to have a blog or mini-blog included on the front page - is this possible or does it require far too much work?  Forgive me, I am not technical at all.

Many Thanks
Elise

Re: Blog Plugin

I think having a basic blogging feature for Piwigo (as a plugin)  would be nice, but we won't go as far as WordPress, of course!

What I have in mind is a specific PWG Stuffs module (this way you can decide where to show it on your page) that display a list og "blog posts".

A blog post is an album, but displayed in a specific way. To tell the truth, I've looked how it was displayed on http://ma.tt/gallery and I find it very smart. In Piwigo I imagine a button in the album administration screen "blog this" (if you have the "blog" plugin). This would automatically create a blog post with a the album title, a "websize" photo and 2 or 4 thumbnails from the album, the album description and a few informations like "14 photos" or "taken on March 23rd, 2011".

You would be able to define how many  blog posts to display on a page.

I think other type of blog post would be useful, such as "blog this" on a specific photo, or simply a "free content" post.

I will try to work on it in the next months (or sooner if someone wants to work on it, I will help)

Re: Blog Plugin

Hi,

I'm new to Piwigo, and I think I will set up my photo collection soon.
Since I'm interested in a neat and simple blogging features, I would like to know when the related plugin is supposed to be available.

Regards,

daniele

Re: Blog Plugin

I think it's much better to have an other script for blogging like Wordpress used with http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/piwigomedia/
That's what I do on my website : publishing an article with some photo to illustrate and linked to the gallery, and tell there is many more photos in the gallery with a link (http://www.planete-flop.fr/blog/2011/05 … asiatique/)
