Hi all
if a new slideshow would have to be done, I would prefer http://jetpack.me/support/carousel/ where metadata, comments, ratings ect are displayed
just adding my 2cents ; so you could think before having a decision

Do you have a link to ademo /doc (but not the wp plugin, rather the js standalone)?
Thanks

it is WP and it is part of JetPack. To integrate some significant refactoring will be required as JP comes integrated.
code resides in jetpack\modules\carousel folder. Core JS alone is 50K. PHP adapter could be modified to prepare some of the data, but... module is designed to work with WP...
In my opinion, better way to accomplish desired functionality would be to take idea behind WP carousel module and port it into Fotorama plugin if author would choose to do so.
PS: I did not find screen layout to attractive with comments visible by default. There are alternatives which look less clattered

of course that's not a standalone and would require to fit it to piwigo ; but the js controlling the display, calling the php to load things, with options etc is there. The whole thing to code the php (api call etc) would the same if we would integrate it to fotorama. The underlying question there would be more How far do we want to go? Replacing slideshow only, allowing the replacement of the picture page, more info on the slideshow....

Another pretty slideshow http://www.jssor.com/.
In my plan for future - add comments, info, etc into Fotorama. But it requre new ajax API and a more time.

may I add that the WP one has the non negligeable advantage to being dev and continued by Automattic
