some Photos are not shown in the albums

Hello,

I am relative new to Piwigo and not a programmer.
After uploading several photoes to my albums I found that some photoes are not being displayed, only the filename and the details are shown. I believe the photoes have been correctly uploaded, as I can download them.
After trying all kinds of adjustments, file size, file names etc. it appears that the photo dimension is the problem, when one side is below 2800 everything is fine (feksample 4600x 2780), but when above (4600 x2900 or bigger) then no display (thumbnail).

I understood there were no limits to the sizes of pictures, only the types are restricted.
Where and how can I adjust these settings
Please see my url below with example of "no show" in Mecardonia.

Piwigo version: 2.8.3
PHP version: 5.2.17 (Show info) [2016-12-06 12:30:16]
MySQL version: 5.6.34-log [2016-12-06 12:30:16]

Re: some Photos are not shown in the albums

Hi,
It seems as a 500-error, although the way to find an Error message was very complicated (I ended up by just rightclicking and then "Show in new window".) Maybe this was too simple, and is not what the FAQ meant ?
So, either it is lack of memory for PHP, but how to change the limits ?
or it is the GD graphic Library that should be change to Imagemagick ?
but I think that I will need a webmaster or Hoster for both operations, right ?

Re: some Photos are not shown in the albums

I ended up by just rightclicking and then "Show in new window

the walk-through on the faq is " right-click on a failed picture then “Display the picture” " so that's ok (it says from the batch manager since a logo usually appears on public side

indeed a 500 error can mean a lot a thing; the best would be to check server logs
What's the library used as indicated on the first/home admin page?
sometimes web hosters allow the user to override php config through a php.ini file at the root of the website, but to answer you, yes in both cases you should contact them

Re: some Photos are not shown in the albums

Hi there been struggling with not all pictures showing for a while now...... as per this original posting.
I had not updated my site in a while, new pictures uploaded (some display some don't) but also old pictures that used to display now do not ??   http://morethanonemoment.co.za/piwigo/i … ategory/45

my Piwigo version is now up to date, i had a friend who has a masters degree in comp science look at the resolution on the forum, this was her response.......

http://piwigo.org/doc/doku.php?id=user_ … es_missing

ì have tried to resolve the problem with images not displaying by following the FAQ page.
http://piwigo.org/doc/doku.php?id=user_ … es_missing
updating the i.php file is already up to date and then i update the config with the $conf['enable_i_log'] = true; variable and it does not generate a log file.

please assist i will pass passwords and access on if required i just need the problem fixed.  Im using Piwigo as it was an easy non programmer package and worked great.  Thats me "non Programmer" even less than the original poster on this thread.

I don't know how she got it ...

well quite obviously you have an 500 Internal Server Error for those picture, but even while simply browsing your gallery I got ones too. So the irght answer was:

“500 Internal error page” or “PHP Fatal Error: Allowed memory size of …” : many problems may cause this error. If some pictures are generated and others not, it might be due to an overload of your server (just wait a few hours) or a lack of memeory for PHP (ask to your hoster to change the memory_limit option). If the graphical library is GD (first admin page), install Imagemagick [see below the paragraph related to Imagemagick]

also check every logs and monitors your server to know what's happening

Re: some Photos are not shown in the albums

it seems it was a memory shortage with the hosting service provider, i sent Flop25's response to my service provider and they upped the memory allocation to 512....... sorted.

this is what hey said:

Good Day Peter,

Not a problem at all.

I have increased the PHP memory limit on the hosting account to 512 MB. I believe this will fix the 500 timeout error.

You can adjust the PHP version, modules and settings from within cPanel as follows:

1) Log into cPanel
2) Click "Select PHP Version" under Software/Services
3) Select the required PHP version from the drop down and click "Set as current"
4) Select the relevant modules and click "Save"
5) The PHP settings can be modified by clicking the "Switch To PHP Options" link in the top right.

* You need to be on a custom PHP build to modify the PHP settings. The native build will use our server defaults.

Do let me know if you have any further questions and I'll be glad to assist.

i followed his steps to see where he had upped the memory it was easy, looks like a common problem because of the line marked *.

i also upgraded to the latest php version and reset the memory to 512, it took a while but looks like the server created more files of the images for use on the site as it took a while to process.

hope you come right, i know how frustrating it was......

cheers

Pete

Re: some Photos are not shown in the albums

Unfortunately we have not fixed the problem, yet.
I am told by our host there are no limitations on our memory set-up.
We have changed to Imagequick as described in the first answer above.
The photoes are fully upload in their original size, but no thumbnail are created or displayed - where do we correct this ?

Re: some Photos are not shown in the albums

does a direct convert command works? (checking if Imagemagik works)
have you tried to use GD or indicate the direct path to the Imagemagick binaries using the Piwigo local config?
