Hi,
my provider now supports mysql8 and i would like to migrate my mysql5.7 piwigo database to mysql8.
Any advices what is the best way to to this?
Doing a backup of the mysql 5.7 database and restore this backup to the new mysql 8 database seems to be too simple.
Or is this the way to go: backup and just do a restore?
Any advices?

Doesn't the provider also offer a migration? Anyway, if available I'd rather migrate to MariaDB 10.x instead of MySQL 8. And if it was just because MySQL 8 ties you into a vendor lock-in to the company I don't name anymore..
And yes, doing a database backup and restore to replicate should work, the Piwigo database, tables and indexes aren't too complicated.

Just to be clear, with database backup/restore I was referring mysqldump or an equivalent web frontend, not some shady half-hearted whatever export ;-)
