Hi team, I've come across an issue with creating Albums in Sub albums, with the newly created album not "staying in the correct location".

Steps:
Enter desired sub Album,
Click create new album - give it a name.
Click Save.
Edit the Album just created, to "turn off comments" - click Save.

The newly created Album is no longer in the Sub album and sits at the top level.

I have to reset the "Parent Album" to the Original Sub album to have it "displayed" in the correct Sub Album.

I've never had to do this previously and have been running the same process for many years.
Perhaps it's a bug, or am I missing something that has changed in recent releases?

I have screen shots, but can't figure out how to upload them to this post - sorry.

Thanks, Sean.

"dump" is a common term in the English speaking software development world as well.

I agree it can be confusing to non-technical people, but it's not something Piwigo can control. It's already prevalent throughout the computer ecosystem.

This feature has been removed from Piwigo 11 and next. Piwigo will just tell you:

Always have a backup of your database and files.
The best is to have them made automatically on a regular basis.
If anything bad happens during the update, you would be able to restore a backup.

Oh, I always assumed it meant throw away too. I never considered it meant save.

Glad you sorted it.

In regards to dump it is a general computer term that has been in use since... well, 60's I guess
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dump more specifically: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Database_dump so not a term that will be changed any time soon or by Piwigo ....

Thanks to everyone who has worked on the upgrade.
I have just upgraded 2 of my 3 piwigo installations and everything is up and running with no issues.

I did encounter a couple of minor issues on the way so in case anyone else has the same issues then here is how I resolved them.

On my first installation I encountered a file permissions error - unable to write access. As a computer novice this was difficult for me. Understand what file permissions are, however I have no idea who the owner is or how owner is allocated. Obviously I am the owner, but I have 3 user names, one for piwigo, one for my host and one for the data base, so I have no idea which one is the owner. Anyway after much reading, I gave up and did a manual data base save through my host and used the manual  upgrade here  - https://piwigo.org/guides/update/manual

In the next gallery, I encountered a different error with the data base dump -

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_select_db()

Again I did a save via my host.
NB to english speaking non computer people, the word "dump" usually means throw away.  "Save copy" might be a better phrase to use.

After that the upgrade went OK.

I am pleased to see that people have been working on plugins and my most important ones now work with piwigo 11. I did have several less important plugins which are not supposed to work with 11, however I carefully tried them out and in my installation they seem to work OK. They are-

Again, thanks to everyone who has been working on this.

I've also noticed sometimes when going into compact view for plugins, the name disappears. Toggling seems to fix it.

@winracer As long as I have Piwigo running, it is the same. Only when I close Piwigo the setting I made is gone.

Always at restart.

Ah, you're right. I only tested with closing the browser tab and not the whole browser. So I guess this is being stored in a session cookie.

Same kind of alternate view for the plugin manager:

Thank you to you and everyone on the team!

One small quibble I have is with the purple and red icons indicating the active and disabled plugins. Feels like this breaks some kind of ux rule... They aren't actually switches, just pictures of switches. So when you click on them nothing happens. As they are I would have expected them to be something like disable all and enable all.

My suggestion would be to remove them completely. But it is of course a minor thing.

Thank you for the alternate/compact views!

@nobby ... so far the settings seem to be retained for me.

New minor release 11.4.0, coming with bug fixes and also enhancements on the user interface. We've heard your feedbacks related to the new album manager and we've decided to offer 2 alternate views. See for yourself:

Same kind of alternate view for the plugin manager:

Thanks to Enora for design and Matthieu for technical implementation !

Other changes concern technical bugs but also a potential privacy issue with the new related album feature. Happy update to everyone.
