This sounds like a problem with your server config anyway, not Piwigo.
That annoying Meta data strip bug might have been fixed but for me it's been replaced with another bug whereby the sync process times out with a max execution time of 30s exceeded.
Fatal error: Maximum execution time of 30 seconds exceeded in /var/www/piwigo/admin/include/functions_metadata.php on line 185

After updating the Linuxserver Piwigo docker container to 14.5.0, I am redirected to the setup page only, where I have to enter the name of the database etc.
Will I ruin things by running the setup?
Or is there a way to get things back in order?

Thanks for the fix :)! Is there anywhere a log listing the files which were updated with the update?

Just keep your modifications within the Localfiles Editor and they will always be preserved.

Update successful. I love one-click updating.
Yes that metadata strip html was super annoying. Thanks for including this ahead of v15!
Typically I upgrade my test site first, but since I've got 15.0.0beta1 running there I guess this one is going straight to my "production" site. :)
New release 14.5.0. An annoying bug fixed on synchronization. Another one on the metadata synchronization in the batch manager. More fixes on PHP 8 compatibility. Better behavior for download link. Happy update!
