Is there any way to make an automatic sync? (i.e every hour)?

can you explain why you need this kind of functionnality ?
I don't understand ^^;

To do a such things, the first step is to find a server providing you an access to a cron.
Next step, is to write the script, executed by cron every hour. the script must be able to login pwg and loading the page with good request attributes. it is not a simple thing...

Hi, I need it on my own server.

We received every hour several pictures (from our photographers, agencies...) I was looking for a web gallery like this that allows to view all pictures from a browser and see the IPTC captions, but due to this several receptioning nobody can watch for new pictures incoming (there comes by ftp) and I need an automated system to create the thumbnails and sync the pictures in the database

make a simple batch opening an IE windows with the url of your admin page for refreshing categories... and make a scheduled task in your computer / serveur to run this batch every hour
