Mandatory before releasing Butterfly (last update 2008-09-02) :
- new theme for public interface, same as admin interface
- new website

We have at least this summer to finish Butterfly, the current PWG trunk.

Before releasing Butterfly, there are some features I would like to have finished:

- privacy by default, see [Forum, topic 13368] permissions : "image privacy level" Versus "private category"
- tag management improvement, see [Bugtracker] ticket 724
- tag display improvement : ie photos related to tags A and B but not C.

VDigital, I think you have some development requests for me, please ask :-) (browse by author, user tag proposals, something else?)

Anyone else can also make a short request.

This topic is just a listing of everybody TODO list for Butterfly, not a discussion on all features added in Butterfly.

Rub, VDigital, rvelices, please give your TODO list for Butterfly too. We'll then add them to the roadmap in the bugtracker.

My todo:
- Metadata update with no data loss (0% done)
- CSS simplifications (split admin / gallery) (20% done)
- Template (in fact layout) extension (0% done) - should include "[Evolution] Miniatures +/- en vrac" by example on My favorites, Most visited, Best rated, Random pictures, Recent pictures or any thumbnail page.
- Stripy graphic charter (10% done)

[ That's largely enough for my summer time. ]

Not on my todo:
- Author management
- Ajax in synchro
- Synchro button (on intro page)
- Tag by users

Priority 1 : Tag by users

Radu,

May I suggest you to take the lead on "removing" ambiguous synchronization.
Even you don't want to redesign all the current synchro, the problem is:

- Only one submit button is confusing for new users. They think that synchro can do both, files and metadata synchronization, in a single process.

Obviously you can do more but I think you are free to build your own todo, and that one will be perfect for me.

Can you develop a bit - how would you like thing to work ? I don't quite get it ...

I can summarize:

- Minimum: two different forms (1 for Metadata scan, 1 for folders/elements scan)
- More: two different sheets (1 for Metadata scan, 1 for physical scan)
- Further: Restart process when elapsed time is closed to be consummed.

- And in final, and as z0rglub requested during last meeting in May: a large button in Admin Intro which do the best for beginners (restart pending process, directory synchronization, file synchronization, metadata synchronization).

This is the most important for me : a single big "Synchronize" button which would perform what a basic newbie user is expecting. Let's give details about this somewhere else (this topic is not dedicated to discussions about new features)

I think if we wait for the implementation of all these features we'll never release butterfly.

My personal opinion is we should release it as soon as possible... It's annoying to develop so long and not be able to put it live (no I don't want ot go live with the trunk - too risky)...

Can we decide on a tentative date ? z0rglub are you available to build the release ?

Release Candidate? I agree but I would like an internal official target date for the final release.
(Without it I disagree).

Let say October 10th for example.
