using exif and iptc and soon xmp tag

1 i am a simple user

i am not a fanatic of photos

my aim ?

make souvenirs
store my souvenirs
regain my souvenirs
share my souvenirs

i have this tool
this is digikam (linux)

i classify my souvenirs with tag, comment, gps data.
all are tags.
all these tags are stored in exif and iptc field

then i want to share my souvenirs
then i use a publish tool as pwg
then
i discover that pwg does not use exif and iptc tags
i must do another time the work
i don't want to make two times the same work
who can like this ?

i said(i am not alone) this to picasaweb devs
for a little time picasaweb now uses comments and a part of gps data included in photos as picasaweb comments and picasaweb gps data. this is the right route.

you are not alone with this pb see panoramio

RTFM : http://phpwebgallery.net/doc/doku.php/? … mp;id=exif

This is more difficult if you don't understand French !

we dont use xmp, but iptc and exif are used...
for gps ... have a look at the maps&earth plugin ... it adds google maps feature to your gallery and can retrieve data from exif gps directory...

Re: using exif and iptc and soon xmp tag

@ rvelices

1. xmp, based on discussion beteween devs of digikam, is the next(today ?) standard

digikam 9.4 and 10(beta state) manage xmp if my info is good. today i use 9.3

2. thank you for info about rv maps&earth

i used it

this is what i want, that works well
good work

a little pb photo viewing is too tiny when viewing on a map
and
it misses a geo diaporama

3. i gonna explore the doc about displaying exif and iptc info in the foot header of photos
and about using them as tags

but it seems there is no simple way(user way not expert) to select what exif or iptc to display by default in the foot header

thank you

Re: using exif and iptc and soon xmp tag

ok

now i use digikam tags (iptc tags) as pwg tags

the search tool uses my digikam tags

i used local file editor to set "use iptc tags" to "true"

next step : displays exif or iptc (i don't know ) comment instead of "file name" in the foot header

You're right, there is no simple way to configure the way we use IPTC/Exif metadata. I hope I or someone else will take the time to code a plugin to help configuration. I also plan to improve the way technical info are displayed (I mean aperture, ISO, speed, focal length, camera model and lens)
