hello...
i see this featured wallbase.cc web site. If you have two of the same picture on your site, giving a warning. Can you do it this?

I think this is a nice feature. What I had in mind is more something like adding a line in the Administration Menu under "Photos" : "Duplicates (23)". This would only be shown if at least one duplicate is found. It would open the Batch Manager filtered on duplicates.
By the way, you can already see duplicates with the Batch Manager, this is prefilter.

The filter searches for photos with the same filename (I mean the original filename, not the technical filename used by Piwigo), no matter if they are added with synchronization or any other method.

This sounds like a great idea, especialy as our albums grow :)

I agree that duplicate image names is not enough.
Each time I buy a new Canon camera, the numbering starts from 1 ie IMG_0001 so that the Batch Manager Duplicates check is not a lot of use.
I think it should take into account the Creation Date & Time as well. Duplicates may well be of differing pixel sizes too.

Hi together,
could we pickup that topic again and find a way to include that functionality into piwigo?
I just checked and it seems that a deduplication check is only possible through the webservice API at the moment (pLoader seems to use it). It would be really great to include this also into the admin site.
Right now I could imagine the following possibilities:
- adding a line in the Administration Menu under "Photos" : "Duplicates (23)" (see post above)
- extend the functionality of the batch manager to use md5 instead of filename when filtering for duplicates
- a warning (or error message) when uploading duplicate files (like in the ws API)
- a plugin that enables to search for duplicates (and merge them, see below)
all depending on the md5 hash and not the file name. As other people said before, it often happens that pictures have the same file name but are different images (multiple (Android) phones, cameras of same manufacturers...)
I saw there is already a ticket on that topic:
http://piwigo.org/bugs/view.php?id=2801
and also this thread:
http://piwigo.org/forum/viewtopic.php?id=20983
Even better would be if the user could "merge" duplicate files, meaning to delete one of it and adding the other to all albums the deleted one was part of as well as moving over the tags of the deleted picture. So no information would be lost when the picture is deleted.
What do you think? I guess many users would love that feature!

Hi, I try to use the duplicates filter in the batch manager, it seem to work ok, but is it possible to display the albums (on the mousover/tooltip) for each picture? It would be very helpful.
Thanks!
