can I move picture files into new installation?

I have given up trying to clean my website of injected malware. The injected malware I have seems to come in through a js file.

Now I am building an (almost) entirely new installation. Is there a way to copy any safe files from the old to the new installation? If I could at least move the picture files in, it would be a huge time saver. Seems like picture files would be safe. Anything else? I tried just moving the "upload" folder but it obviously needs supporting files to see anything.

The old installation is version is 2.5.1 and the new is 2.5.2. Should have I installed 2.5.1 before moving files and then upgdate?

thanks / Kozmo

Hi
do you still have the database? A Piwigo install can be moved without problem

Re: can I move picture files into new installation?

Hi again, Flop. I still have all of the original files. I just want to be sure I don't move anything that might be infected.

Where is the database? I see "_data" and "upload" folders. Is there a way and should I scan files  before moving?

The database is a database not files : it's mysql and you should have the credentials in the ifrst mail of you hoster
Scan files? I don't think so
But if you prefer you should follow : http://piwigo.org/basics/upgrade_manual

Re: can I move picture files into new installation?

thanks. I did the upgrade. The data seems to be complete but many of the actual pictures do not show. The data (comments, hits, etc) are shown for each pic but neither the pic nor the thumbnail. Some pictures do show; it seems pretty random though more recent pictures seem to show. The upload folder with the pictures is there.

Any idea on how to fix the links to the pictures?
thnx

Re: can I move picture files into new installation?

thanks again. We're getting closer. I followed these instructions http://piwigo.org/doc/doku.php?id=user_ … es_missing

Seems some of my photos aren't in the upload folder. I don't see them elsewhere on the server. I'll have to figure out which ones are missing (a lot) and upload them again. More work but I think we're complete. Now I'll ask google to review the site again and keep my fingers crossed.
