I'm setting up a new instance of piwigo and one of the things I want to do is the use it to store illustrations for other pages I have. I'm thinking of something like this
my new site | + Album 1 - Sub-album(s) | + Album 2 - Sub-album(s) | + Illustrations + Sub-album 1 | + Sub-album 2 | + etc
What I want to do is to hide "Illustrations" and its sub-albums so that it's not visible on the front page. I don't want to require a login to see the albums/photos, I just don't want "Illustrations" to be visible on the front page.
I tried to find some setting or extension for doing this but had no success. How do I do this?

Sorry but Piwigo is for displaying your images in a gallery, not file hosting.

I wouldn't call it file hosting, but some photos/illustrations might not be what I what I want to show up for people visiting the site but might be perfectly valid to use on a web page.
But if it can't be done I'll use some other software instead.

I know you said you don't want to require a login to see the photos, but you could set the permissions on the Illustrations album so that it's private. I have a Group called "Private Photos" that assign to albums that should only be seen by certain users (who are logged in).

Use on a web page, but not visible to people visiting. That is a perfect description of image hosting.

It may be me being too nitpicky but to me "file hosting" is any kind of file, "image hosting" is photos/image hosting. So in my case I would say "file hosting" = no, "image hosting" = yes.
I tried to set the the album to private and it seem to work the way I want, I wrongly assumed that setting an album to private would also control access to links to the images but it doesn't look that it doesn't work like this. So I can do what I want. Thanks fot the suggestion.

Right, just setting it to private will hide it, but not prevent links. If you want to also prevent links to a private album (without logging in first) you can create a group (like I did) and assign it to users who should be able to see the private album and the photos in it.
