[resolved] Update from 10.1.2.20 to 12.3.0

Automatic update fails.  So, I've been searching for any notes about an update path?  If someone could point me in the correct direction, I would appreciate it.

It displays an error has occurred during extract.  When I look at the log, it says every file is write protected.  The permissions are mostly 644 owned by root:root.  Where does it extract?  That is, what location?  /tmp, /var/tmp?

Re: [resolved] Update from 10.1.2.20 to 12.3.0

What is owned by root:root? The existing Piwigo installation? That of course couldn't be overwritten then; the  unzip location AFAIK is a temporary directory within the Piwigo installation, but I'm not sure about that, so if the Piwigo directory is owned by root:root and 755 or so then even that can't work. And having the files owned by root sounds odd, like you did the previous installation as root. For an upgrade via web, directories and files need to be writeable by the user the web server runs as. Otherwise you'll have to do a manual upgrade (and rethink whether you really want the root:root thing, I doubt that, but prerequisites may differ, I don't know why you did that).

Re: [resolved] Update from 10.1.2.20 to 12.3.0

Apparently, that was exactly the problem.  I changed the user and group owner to the same as my web server then ran the update.  It worked.

Thanks so much for the feedback!  :)
