Beta-testers, get ready! Here comes the 3rd beta version of Piwigo 14.
A) Changes
The filter for "added by" users becomes a list like the filetypes list.
The filter for "posted date" changes its list of values: instead of {last 7 days, last 30 days, last 6 months, last year}, Piwigo proposes {last 24 hours, last 7 days, last 30 days, last 3 months, last 6 months, year 2023, year 2022, ....} with the list of years relevant in your gallery.
When you search word "panda", then Piwigo may find matches among tags or albums. Piwigo will display the list and let you directly open the tag or the album, outside the search.
Search in this set : when browsing an album or a tag or a combination of tags, Piwigo will provide a "search in this set" button and icon. When you click on it, you will create a new search pre-filtered on the album (or the list of tags) and you will be free to add filters. For example, if you want to find photos added during year 2018 in album "animal/foxes", it's going to be super easy.
New file types support
* HEIC : this is currently the default file type used for photos on iOS and Android phones. Piwigo will generate a JPEG file for display and keep the HEIC as original file.
* WebP : the most "supported by web browsers" file type as a JPEG replacement. Piwigo will generate WebP files for multiple-size display. This is a big difference compared to other file types only supported "as input". WebP is supported for import as well as for display. What's interesting with WebP is that it can replace JPEG with higher quality for the same file weight, it can replace animated GIF for a much smaller weight and can also replace PNG with lossless quality and transparency.
* PSD (Photoshop) and EPS : Piwigo will generate a JPEG or PNG for display and keep the PSD/EPS as original file.
B) Improvements
* compatibility with PHP 8.2 : still fixing bugs
* many small fixes

Installed easily, and I haven't seen any problems!
I'm super excited about the HEIC support, so I can upload the original image right from my phone without converting.
Any chance that the video portion of live photos could also be uploaded? And possibly linked or kept on the same page as the image somehow? Perhaps as a future feature? Has anyone expressed interest in this before for Piwigo?

cryopad (developer of the iOS app) has clearly asked for a support of Live Photos in Piwigo. It's not in the roadmap yet.

I'm trying to get my ducks in a row. Wondering when Piwigo 14 will be released? I thought possibly by the end of November 2023? Is this still the scheduled release?
Also will Piwigo 14 work with the latest php now and into the future?
Thank you for an excellent product.
Be well and stay safe!
