What happened in 2010?

Many events in 2010:

* to ensure Piwigo project sustainability in the long run, we have created a Piwigo Association. The mission of the Association is to support the Piwigo project including its technical infrastructure, its events or its communication. The operation of the association depends on your donations and as little strokes fell great oaks, each stroke is important! http://piwigo.org/donate

* Piwigo 2.1 was released and seriously improved usability. Version 2.2 was prepared and is following the same path.

* ability to add photos from Digikam, Shotwell or Lightroom. Jiwigo "Piwigo on your Desktop" was released for Windows/Linux/Mac.

* Pierrick Le Gall, project founder, is now working full time on Piwigo to increase activity on the whole Piwigo project and to launch the Piwigo.com project, an "all included" solution to run your Piwigo photo gallery

* 9 stable versions of Piwigo were released, more than 4000 commits were performed in the source code manager which means as many in 2010 as in the 7 previous years cumulated, 16 languages were added and Piwigo is now available in 34 languages, the forums have now more than 170000 messages in 10 languages.

* the Facebook page and the Twitter account were created to communicate and make Piwigo more popular

* in order to improve readability, the Piwigo.org website now has a white background


What to expect for 2011?

No doubt year 2011 will also be very animated, you can expect:

* Piwigo 2.2

* the ability to add photos from Android and iPhone

* creating photo galleries for communities will be easier

* the birth of the "showcase" section on piwigo.org to show Piwigo examples of use
